Incarcerated throughout the world are thousands of people, human beings, who through various reasons, society has deemed unfit to live out in the free world.
It is said that most inmates come to have problems, mentally, within time, but some have severe mental problems and do not really belong in a prison, but needed medical help. As such they may not have been responsible for whatever crime they committed however terrible.
Some have these problems due to their incarceration in prisons where they are locked up almost all day, have no human contact other than when they are escorted from A to B by guards, live underground , have no visits, no phone calls and no contact with the outside world.
Those with severe problems may not be able to write in response to a letter, or they may write jibberish but it is known they are so happy to receive mail. A postcard, maybe a letter, once a week or more often, can bring tremendous joy into their lives and help them to realize that yes, someone does care. Someone does know of their existence.
